The ISWR project marks a significant milestone as the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia to involve private sector participation, in alignment with the National Water Strategy. This strategic partnership underscores a shared commitment to driving the future of sustainable water practices.
The project is set to be operational in 2027. It is expected to significantly enhance the water supply chain, serving residents and visitors of Makkah, as well as Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.
The project’s concession will span 30 years, with direct investment from the private sector amounting to SAR 1.5 billion. It guarantees 100% stored water availability, reduces operational costs, and enhances local content by increasing the localization of business and human resources.
