This project includes a strategic storage capacity of 2,000,000 cubic meters and an operational tank capacity of 500,000 cubic meters which aims at strengthening the potable water distribution system.
The project, set to be operational in 2027, is structured as a 30-year concession and is the first of its kind project undertaken with private sector participation amounting to SAR 1.5 billion. It will significantly enhance the water supply chain and serve the residents and visitors of Makkah, including Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, in alignment with the National Water Strategy.
This initiative not only ensures 100% stored water availability but also delivers both tangible and intangible value by reducing operational costs and boosting local content through increased business localization and workforce development.
The project marks an important milestone aligned with the sector’s strategic goals and KSA’s long-term vision for building sustainable and resilient water infrastructure to support future population growth and economic development.
