Synergy Academy Delivers Guest Lecture on PPPs and Project Finance at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi
Synergy Academy, the capacity-building arm of Synergy Consulting, Inc., recently conducted a guest lecture at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), Delhi, as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening industry–academia collaboration in infrastructure and finance.
The session was led by Praveen Umredkar, Partner, Synergy Consulting, Inc., and Swati Tyagi, Manager, Synergy Academy. It offered students a practitioner’s perspective on how infrastructure projects are structured, financed, and delivered.
Key themes discussed:
- The case for Public-Private Partnerships: How PPPs help governments overcome budgetary and delivery constraints by drawing on private sector capital, expertise, and operational efficiency
- Principles of project finance: Why lenders evaluate a project on its own cash flows and structure, and how robust risk management drives investor confidence
- Risk allocation and bankability: How well-designed concession agreements and performance-linked payment mechanisms create certainty for stakeholders, improve bankability, and reduce financing costs
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, in which students engaged on risk allocation, bankability, renewable energy PPPs, cross-border infrastructure transactions, and career pathways in project finance.
