Synergy Consulting is honored to be the Lead & Financial Advisor to the Ministry of Energy (MOE), Kazakhstan, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the successful auctions of the first site-specific Wind Power Plants in Kazakhstan. As part of this transaction, two project sites were auctioned – Arkalyk (50 MW) and Zhezkazgan (100 MW). Synergy Consulting provided procurement advisory services acting as the lead advisor to MOE Kazakhstan under a Technical Cooperation assignment facilitated by the EBRD and advised authorities on the amendments to the renewable energy auctions framework that paved the way for a successful auction.
Arkalyk (50 MW) – A total of seven bidders participated in the auctions, and the Project was awarded at 12.97 tenge/kWh, an equivalent of 2.8 USc/kWh
Zhezkazgan (100 MW) – A total of five bidders participated in the auctions, and the Project was awarded at 12.39 tenge/kWh, an equivalent of 2.6 USc/kWh, one of the lowest tariffs in Central Asia.
The Project is part of the Government’s push to increase Renewable Energy penetration in the country. Synergy Consulting is privileged to be part of this historic transaction in Kazakhstan.
