Shashank Rath, Partner at Synergy Consulting, Inc., recently moderated a webinar on Islamic Finance, held under the umbrella of WAPPP | World Association of PPP Units & Professionals, which was conducted with a pre-webinar workshop on Islamic Finance.
The two events covered concepts of Islamic Finance, including the various products/ structures that are used in different transactions, explained well through case studies. The panelists shared insights about how Islamic Financing has been used in PPP/ infrastructure projects covering both, the MENA region and South-East Asia. The event also covered aspects of bank loans as well as capital market issuances (Sukuks) and how each segment could grow to help support the huge funding gap for infrastructure financing.
