MIREME and GMNK, Mozambique launch the Request for Qualification (“RFQ”) for Strategic Partner selection for Mphanda Nkuwa Hydropower Project

Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy, Mozambique (MIREME) and Gabinete de Implementação do projecto Hidroeléctrico de Mphanda Nkuwa (GMNK) , together with Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) and Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB) have officially launched the tender process on 13th December 2021 at an event in Maputo, Mozambique.

GMNK has invited the submission of a Statement of Qualification (“SOQ”) in response to the Request for Qualification (“RFQ”) for the selection of a Strategic Partner for the development of the Mphanda Nkuwa Hydropower Project, with an installed capacity of not less than 1,500 MW. The Project will be located on the Zambezi River, around 60 km downstream of the existing Cahora Bassa Hydropower plant. The Project will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (“BOOT”) basis.

Interested parties will be able to obtain more information, examine and collect the RFQ by sending an email to mnk.investor@gmnk.co.mz starting 14th December 2021.
