We are pleased to announce that Yellow Door Energy has successfully achieved the financial close of the Lion Thorn Solar Park (Leeudoringstad), a 49 MWp Solar PV project in South Africa.
شركة سينرجي للاستشارات is proud to have acted as Financial Advisor to Yellow Door Energy on this landmark solar project, supporting YDE across multiple facets of the transaction and helping drive the project through to successful Financial Close.
The project reached financial close at the end of August 2026, with a debt facility raised from Nedbank Corporate and Investment Banking. The plant has secured long-term power purchase agreements with JSE-listed PPC and POWERX, a NERSA-licensed private electricity trader, underpinning its revenue profile through the dual-offtake structure.
The transaction adds to the steady growth of private investment in South Africa’s electricity sector, bringing new renewable generation capacity onto the grid and supporting the country’s energy transition and economic growth. In its first year of operation, the project is expected to generate approximately 115 GWh of renewable electricity, avoiding an estimated 104,190 tons of carbon emissions annually, with construction and operations also expected to support local employment and economic activity in the surrounding area.
