The Tashkent Academy for PPP and Infrastructure (TAFPI), an initiative led by Synergy Consulting and hosted by the American University of Technology (AUT), has officially launched its operations in Uzbekistan. The Academy marked its debut with an opening ceremony and a two-day executive workshop, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MoEF) and the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade (MIIT) of Uzbekistan.<\/p>\n

The event commenced with an opening address by Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Ilkhom Umrzakov, who emphasized the critical role of PPP projects in sustainable economic development. Mr. Umrzakov noted that the ministry is paying critical attention to PPP initiatives as a key driver for the country\u2019s long-term prosperity. \u201cEven one graduate from this Academy can make a difference,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

The Regional Director at Synergy Consulting, Bakhrom Abdukadirov also highlighted the transformative potential of the workshop, stating, \u201cAs the Government of Uzbekistan advances its PPP program, it\u2019s crucial to strengthen implementation capacities of stakeholders to maximize the potential of infrastructure investments. With our extensive global experience and expertise, we are uniquely positioned to lead this effort and empower government officials with the skills required to drive transformative change.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finally, the Founding Rector at AUT, Dr Said Irandoust commented on the partnership\u2019s value, \u201cAt AUT, we believe the future of development lies not just in financing infrastructure, but in educating those who will shape it. Through TAFPI, we\u2019re not just transferring knowledge\u2014we\u2019re building a new generation of public leaders equipped to unlock transformative opportunities for Uzbekistan and beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the opening ceremony, a team of experts from Synergy led the intensive two-day executive workshop. The curriculum covered topics such as Methods of Public Procurement, Project Finance Framework, Social Infrastructure Sector Knowledge, Tariff Structure, Sources of Financing, Bankability, and Financial Modeling.<\/p>\n

Participants came from a broad spectrum of government organizations, including MIIT, MoEF, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, the Ministry of Construction and Housing Communal Services, JSC Uzsuvtaminot, as well as regional administrations in Tashkent city and Tashkent region.<\/p>\n

The workshop provided participants with the latest insights, practical case studies, and engaging Q&A sessions with experts and peers. Networking opportunities during the coffee breaks allowed for the exchange of ideas on the latest trends in PPPs and foreign direct investment in Uzbekistan. The event concluded with the awarding of professional certificates, attesting to the participants\u2019 newly acquired expertise.<\/p>\n

TAFPI, alongside MoEF and MIIT, remains dedicated to advancing the PPP sector and attracting foreign direct investments in Uzbekistan. This commitment supports Uzbekistan\u2019s ambitious plan to attract $110 billion in foreign investments by 2030, including $30 billion via PPP projects. Capacity building is crucial for achieving these goals, and TAFPI is poised to be a cornerstone of this effort.<\/p>\n
