Синергия Консалтинг, Инк. was honored to support the Zambezi River Authority Original (ZRA) in conducting the Batoka Gorge Hydro-Electric Scheme (BGHES) Market Sounding Boardroom Session during Africa Energy Forum (AEF) 2026.

The session brought together developers, investors, financial institutions, EPC contractors, and other strategic stakeholders to discuss the development and financing of the proposed 2,400 MW Batoka Gorge Hydro-Electric Scheme, one of the most significant hydropower projects currently under development in Africa.

The session featured remarks from senior representatives of the Governments of Zambia and the Government of Zimbabwe, the Zambezi River Authority (ZRA), and the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP).

Esteemed participants included Ephraim Munshifwa (Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy, Zambia); Eng. Munyaradzi C. Munodawafa (Chief Executive, ZRA); Frank Mashodo (Assistant Director, ZRA); Tichakunda Simbini (Principal Program Officer, ZRA); and Stephen Dihwa (Executive Director, SAPP).

The speakers highlighted the strategic importance of the Project in supporting regional energy security, economic growth, regional integration, and long-term sustainable development across Southern Africa.

As the Financial and Commercial Transaction Advisor to ZRA, Synergy Consulting Inc. was represented by Vishwas Gupta and Manish Malik, together with Patrick Sipatela, Project Manager for the Batoka Gorge Hydro-Electric Scheme at ZRA.

Vishwas Gupta, Manish Malik, along with Patrick Sipatela presented the proposed project structure, financing approach, procurement roadmap, and opportunities for private sector participation.

The session concluded with an engaging discussion with market participants, providing valuable feedback that will help inform the next phase of project development and the upcoming procurement process.
