Synergy Consulting, Inc. is honored to be the Lead Transaction Advisor to Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME) and Gabinete de Implementação Do Projecto Hidroeléctrico De Mphanda Nkuwa (GMNK) in the execution of the Joint Development Agreement and Framework Agreement with the EDF led Consortium (EDF SA, TotalEnergies SAS and Sumitomo Corporation) for the Mphanda Nkuwa Hydropower Project, which formalized the entry of EDF led consortium as the Strategic Partner with Government of Mozambique.

The signing ceremony was held in Maputo, Mozambique, on 13th December 2023 and was attended by H.E. Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique, and H.E. Carlos Joaquim Zacarias, Minister, MIREME, along with other domestic and international dignitaries.

Mphanda Nkuwa Hydropower Project will create substantial power export opportunities, with clean power, in the region, thereby realizing Mozambique’s vision to establish itself as a regional power hub and will support Government of Mozambique’s vision of sustainable clean energy for the universal access of electricity in Mozambique by 2030.

Synergy will continue to support MIREME and GMNK beyond the completion of this important milestone on this Project.
