Michael Grimm joins Synergy as Managing Director – the Americas
Synergy Consulting is delighted to announce the hiring of Michael Grimm as Managing Director to drive the expansion of Synergy’s presence in the Americas.
Michael will focus on helping accelerate the $465 billion in climate finance deployed in the region from 2015-2020 through renewable energy, energy storage, EV charging and manufacturing, energy efficiency, and other climate mitigation and decarbonization projects.
Synergy aims to grow its presence across North, South, and Central America, the Caribbean, and Pacific Islands to support further investment in climate-smart infrastructure, traditional infrastructure, and social infrastructure throughout the region.
Under Michael’s leadership, we plan to launch two additional services for our clients to build their project portfolios and raise capital for their projects from new partner entities.
Michael is a clean energy expert with 16+ years of experience including advisory and underwriting work on nearly US$30bn in Project Finance transactions in the power and infrastructure space globally. He has successfully closed loans to headline projects such as the $1.7bn Sarulla Geothermal project and the $2.8bn Vineyard Wind project. Michael brings a strong network among MDBs, DFIs, commercial banks, investors, sponsors, developers, incubators, accelerators, and other clean energy stakeholders.
He has a strong command of project finance, corporate finance, legal contracts, accounting, and negotiations. He is an expert in underwriting and structuring project / sponsor equity, mezzanine debt, project finance, tax equity, and senior debt.
Michael’s work experience spans organizations such as the World Bank, SMBC, ADB, Nomura Securities, as well as entrepreneurship.
Michael has a Certificate in Energy Innovation and Emerging Technologies from Stanford and an MBA, with Honors, from Thunderbird, Arizona State University.
